Drone Fly Feast: A Bee Mimic on Ragwort

This photograph captures a Drone Fly (Eristalis species, possibly Eristalis tenax) feeding on a yellow flower, likely ragwort (Jacobaea vulgaris). The image showcases the fly's bee-like mimicry, its hairy body, its prominent eyes, and its wings held out to the sides. The yellow flower provides a vibrant backdrop, highlighting the fly's presence and its role as a pollinator. The soft, blurred background emphasizes the fly's presence and its connection to its environment. The composition focuses on the fly's activity, inviting the viewer to observe a moment in the life of this fascinating insect.
